Officer Giuseppe DeChiara, of the Cranbury Township Police Department, was awarded the Police Medal of Valor by the New Jersey State Association of Chiefs of Police. 

On March 13, 2007, Officer DeChiara was driving to work on Rt. 130 in East Windsor Township, when he came across a serious motor vehicle crash involving two vehicles.  Officer DeChiara rescued one driver and then proceeded to assist the driver of the second vehicle.  He then rescued a man and an infant, who was in the back seat, from the second vehicle as it burst into flames.
